Niki Wüthrich’s Trombone Glissandos are not only heard in Quintetto Inflagranti, but also in the Swiss Brass Consort and the Orchestra Collegium Musicum Basel. Often, Niki trades his trombone for the baton and passionately conducts the wind bands Stadtmusik Zurich and Stadtmusik Bremgarten.
Niki serves as the Head of the Music School in Bremgarten, gives conducting workshops, and sits on jury panels at wind ensemble competitions. A Master of Advanced Studies in Arts Management from the University Basel, Niki has organized numerous tours (including «Im Orchester graben» with Swiss comedians Ursus & Nadeschkin) and was the Managing Director of the Symphony Orchestra Camerata Schweiz for over ten years. Within Quintetto Inflagranti, he ensures that the input and output remain in a favorable relation.
As a 14-year old, Niki started his career in chamber music with a trombone trio. He gained his Teaching and Concert Degrees from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Bern, in both trombone (with Armin Bachmann and Prof. Branimir Slokar) and conducting.
In the rare moments when Niki doesn’t have anything else to do, he rejuvenates himself on his bicycle, jogging, or on the yoga mat.
