Our specialist for the high notes is Basil Hubatka, Head of the Music School in Stäfa, as well as a prolific teacher. Aside from playing in Quintetto Inflagranti, Basil is a freelance musician with numerous orchestras and chamber music groups.  He lives in Männedorf with his wife and four daughters.

He received his Trumpet Teaching Degree from the Musikhochschule Zurich where he studied with Claude Rippas.  Further studies led him to Bo Nilsson in Malmo, Robert Sullivan and Marc Gould in New York, as well as Markus Würsch in Luzern where he received his Trumpet Diploma with Honors.

Basil was awarded the Edwin Fischer Prize, and, with the Lucerne Chamber Brass, won the Mozart-Prize Lucerne (2002) as well as placing in the International Brass Competitions in Munich (Jan Koetsier, 2001) and Guebwiller (Concours Philip Jones, 2003).

He has performed in numerous musical theater productions at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and the State Theater in Stuttgart.

Whenever he finds the time, Basil is an avid arranger. We are very honored to have a huge number of special Quintetto Inflagranti arrangements from Basil in our repertoire.
